Indonesian Six Pyrolysis Plants Project
In April 2022, an Indonesian customer repurchased six sets of pyrolysis equipment.
Project Background
In early 2022, one of the leading companies in renewable energy from Indonesia was facing an increasing problem – the accumulation of used tires in the region and the need for cheap fuel for industrial heating purposes. Having successfully run two pilot pyrolysis plants since 2020, the company opted to upscale its operations substantially.
The company ordered the purchase of an additional six batch pyrolysis plants with 12 tons capacity in April 2022. The main reasons for this decision included:
Reliability: The successful operation of the existing units proved that the technology could work efficiently with tires produced locally.
Market Need: Local industrial facilities were looking for “Green Fuel” substitutes for diesel fuel.
Regulatory Compliance: The initiative corresponded to the country’s environmental agenda and circular economy strategy.

Configuring Solutions For Clients
In order to fulfill the requirements of the client for efficiency and environment friendly solutions, we designed a standardized 12 ton batch pyrolysis system configuration.
Components of the Solution:
Reactor Configuration: Six 12-ton horizontal rotating reactor configuration which is optimized for even heating and longevity.
3 in 1 Condensing Unit: This unit comprises the condensing tank, water tank, and oil tank within a single compact structure for installation ease and efficient cooling capacity.
Environmental Protection: All units were provided with their own “Dedusting System” (consisting of water spray, ceramic rings filter, and adsorption) ensuring that the flue gases produced during production comply with Indonesian environmental standards.
Safety Measures: Installation of “Negative Pressure System” and “Hydro-Seal” systems to prevent any kind of backfire.
Project Results

Economic Viability (Estimated for 2022 Market)
The economic viability can be determined using the estimated cost of investments and income for a year, considering the 2022 market rate in Indonesia.
Total Cost of Investment: About $580,000 (Includes 6 units, transportation, foundation, and installation).
Operating Costs per Year: About $950,000 (Includes raw material, labor costs, power, and maintenance costs).
Total Income per Year: About $2,450,000 (Gained from selling pyrolysis oil, carbon black, and recycled steel).
Return on Investment (ROI): ROI = {$2,450,000 – $950

Conclusion
Our Indonesian client’s purchase in April 2022 is a clear indication of how scalable and economically mature the pyrolysis technology is. Through scaling up from its pilot stage to an eight-units operation, the client has managed to turn a local environmental problem (waste tires) into a very lucrative income generation project.
Not only does this project act as an environmentally sustainable source of fuel for industrial use, but it also creates a benchmark for waste energy projects in Southeast Asia. The strong design of equipment, environmental regulations within the locality, and a high oil production rate have helped the client to recover their initial investment within one year of operation.
